As a math teacher, fact practice was always near and dear to my heart. Fact fluency is such an important pillar of student success as they move up to other math content. Today, I’m sharing with you some of my favorite FREE online math fact practice resources from around the interwebs!
Xtra Math
This is an online program that is aligned to CCSS and helps students practice their fact fluency. This website has all kinds of additional information for teachers and families!
Khan Academy
Khan Academy is a completely free website that provides awesome online practice for all grades PK-12. The 3rd grade section not only has math lessons on mastering basic facts, but lesson for other math content areas, as well. Even better, if you teach subjects besides math, you’re covered here too!
Prodigy
Okay, so this isn’t strictly a math facts practice game. Additionally, this comes with a few disclaimers (from me).
First of all, my district has banned this program in our schools and I believe it’s primarily due to my next point.
Secondly, when my kids would play this game, they became obsessed and almost unruly during computer lab time.
My final disclaimer is that while the program is free, there are paid upgrade options. I never paid as a teacher, but when my niece was in third grade a couple of years ago, I know she earned money towards being able to purchase the upgraded version to play at home, though to be honest, I am not sure what benefits that version entailed.
Disclaimers aside, I include it here, because it is a great resource to send HOME for additional math practice. Kids really do love it and they get very competitive. However, in order to progress in the game, you have to answer a lot of standards-based math questions and answer them correctly.
Education.Com
This website has tons of free math worksheets and online games for fact practice and more!
Math Aids
This is another website with a large selection of free math worksheets. There is a paid option that removes ads and claims to have a faster loading speed, but the free version is pretty much all you need.
If you have any other great free online resources for math facts (or teaching math in general), please share them in the comments!
